Silicone industry prospects
Aug 17, 2018

China has become the largest consumer of organic silicon materials. Due to the large export of textiles, electronics and electrical products and the strong demand for organic silicon materials in industries such as domestic construction, textiles, automobiles and daily chemicals, the development of organic silicon materials in China has been promoted and promoted. In 2010, China's siloxane consumption reached 555,000 tons, accounting for 36% of the global total, becoming the world's largest consumer of organic silicon; China's processing industry-based industrial structure [1], resulting in China's organic silicon consumption structure It is very different from other countries and regions in the world. Silicon rubber and silicone oil account for the same proportion in other countries and regions, while silicone rubber is the main one in China.

During the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, the average annual growth rate of organic silicon consumption in China is expected to remain at around 18%. In 2015, the consumption of siloxanes is expected to reach about 1.3 million tons, equivalent to about 2.6 million tons of silicone monomers. In 2010, China's silicone (silicone) production was about 410,000 tons; consumption was 555,000 tons. On the one hand, silicone continues to grow steadily in traditional applications, and on the other hand, it has continuously developed new applications in new energy, energy conservation, environmental protection, medical and high-end manufacturing, especially in solar cells, LEDs, personal care products, and tracks. Its applications have grown rapidly in terms of transportation and alternative petroleum-based products. Due to its broad market space, silicones have been included in the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” for new materials. More than 20 silicone products were included in the catalogue of the new material “12th Five-Year Plan”.
